New Harbour Crane for Sheerness

For Immediate Release - 28 November, 2007

The Medway port of Sheerness has taken delivery (26th Nov 07) of a new Gottwald mobile harbour crane in response to increased container trade.

The HMK260E crane, weighing a total of 300 tonnes, was shipped in component parts from Gottwald's Dusseldorf factory to be assembled and commissioned on site at the port.

With a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, the crane is expected to go into operation at the beginning of January. It will operate alongside a similar, 80 tonne capacity, Gottwald crane acquired in 2001, to maintain the port's high performance in the face of additional container traffic.
